You're not going to believe this, but car wax will make a sink very shiny. First wash it with a light-duty scrubber sponge, and dry it with a towl. Then apply a VERY thin coat of auto wax, using a slightly damp sponge.. When it has completely dried, polish
It's not granite but it's some sort of stone. We don't have a water softer nor do we have any room for one so that's not an option.
White vinegar might be able to dissolve those spots. There are also products at the store for water spots. I would check into a water softener so you don't continue to have the problem. We have a filter on our kitchen sink that also softens the water

get rid of the comet, soft scrub, anything with bleach in it ... use seventh generation cream cleanser or other earth friendly product.
