Can "Apron front" kitchen sinks be covered with a wood panel?

I am starting my kitchen remodel and I am hunting for a Faithful sink: it has to be a single basin, oversized and undermounted. I love the size and shape of "apron front" sinks, but I do not have a yen for the front of the sink exposed, I would

Will an apron front sink (also called farmhouse) look out of place in a traditional kitchen?

We will upon construction on a house in Tennessee in March of 2006. I like the idea of an apron front sink but am very wavering since they are usually used in a country style house (our style is traditional). I propose a white "fireclay" sink,
There's alot of tidings out there on what goes and what doesn't. Although copper or stainless would both make a statement, if you're concerned about whether it blendd with a usual setting, the white sink would definietly be more in keeping with the period.

My kitchen highboy would have to be altered to accomodate the farmhouse, or apron front but I'm seeing it in lots of magazines and it looks detached Opinions please!
farmhouse - look sensible in country/traditional kitchens but aren't that practical. due to the fact they are mostly ceramic, they chafe easily and discolour. they are also heavy and water spillages can easily get down the sides of them, in due course
